My students are from varying backgrounds and educational aspirations. I have some which receive special education services for social or emotional challenges and others with learning disabilities. Among my current students, there are over 14 languages spoken in their homes, 3 of which have extremely limited English skills and require translation support from either an aide or student helpers. Some have aspirations to go to college and become a doctor, and others are just trying to graduate from high school. Inspiring and engaging them all is a constant goal.
My Project
When I took my AP Summer Institute, these gel electrophoresis boxes were the stars of the show. These gel boxes are sturdy and have a photo hood that allow students to put their cellphone over the opening to easily photograph the results.
When the students run DNA gels, they can see the DNA strands separating in real time!
They will be able to see the DNA bands in 5 minutes and finish running the gels in 20.
To properly load the gel boxes, it is important for students to be able to use micropipettes properly. The practice kit will ensure they are skilled in this lab technique and that they will get great results when running their DNA samples.
Please help me provide these amazing biotech products for my students.
