Our school is a Title I school where many students receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. Many students have unstable home lives and look to Music and other resources as an outlet.
My students are energetic, love to move, and play music.
Before school, many will come up and ask me what we are doing in music that day, hoping to be able to play instruments, sing, dance, etc. They come into class every week excited and ready to learn new things and make music!
We were very blessed to receive thirty handmade ukuleles for our school, but now we have no place to store them! These beautiful instruments sound great, but they also take a little maintenance.
These supplies will allow us to store and protect our instruments so they will last for generations of students.
The extra strings (fishing line) will allow us to replace the strings as needed, and the Snark tuners will help us keep the ukuleles sounding their best. The students will also benefit by learning what it takes to care for and protect a string instrument (tuning, storage, replacing strings).
