Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students of P.S. 143 are humble, gracious, motivated, and caring despite the challenges they encounter. My school is located in Corona, Queens, which is comprised of more than 90% low-income families. This community was hit hard by the COVID pandemic. It was basically the hub of the outbreak.
Due to language barriers, limited job offerings and lay offs, many of these children will not be able to afford the supplies needed to thrive in and out of class.

My Project
The materials that are being asked for will help my students and their families have one less thing to worry about. I would like to supply them with notebooks, pencils and simple supplies that will help them succeed.
In case of a shutdown or quarantine, I will be able to make 'keep at home' baggies so that they will have crayons, pencils, index cards and other important supplies at their fingertips.
Extra masks will help through out the day. Laminating supplies are useful because they can be disinfected after each use.
