Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low socioeconomic neighborhood. The students in my class are a mixture of English Language Learners and gifted students. Some students face challenges of poverty, family instability, and emotional struggles. Although my students may face some of these problems at home, they come to school every day willing to learn.
The school's motto is "Never, Never, Never Give Up!" My students have definitely shown this kind of positive attitude in times of need.
My students enjoy learning about the world around them and have inquisitive minds. They want to make a difference in the world.
My Project
My students have been immersed in STEAM this year. I have integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in my daily curriculum. My students have participated and presented in our STEAM Learning Fair.
To take STEAM to the next level, my students want to create and design their own STEAM attire.
They have been excited about creating shirts with their own STEAM logo. Having a mini heat press and assorted vinyl will allow my students to be creative in designing their t-shirt logo. I know that my students will take pride in wearing their attire at our next STEAM learning fair to present their work!
