This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This 2023-24 school year, our school is preparing for the Launch of our new STEM Program. We have plenty in store but we know we need to Start STRONG in order to grab interest. The early months of the school year will be filled with guest speakers, field trips, and working with LA county to bring awareness to environmental concerns; We plan to get the momentum going by using this time to prep the students to generate Research IDEAS leading up to our first Science FAIR!
Our Goal for this project is simple: to Level Up and Elevate our students to use technology to perform science in the practical sense, and gain competency in applying the scientific process so they may appreciate STEM and its impact.
We need to equip students with the proper tools if we expect them to rise to the challenge as they learn from inquiry and project- based assignments.
We are a small school located in South Los Angeles with a mission to open equitable access for meaningful education to the 99% Latino community with high density of poverty and english learners. Offering STEM programs gives them the chance for a whole new range of experiences and skills, not to mention it looks good on college applications!
