This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Costa Rica, Rocky Mountains, and outer space are places my students have traveled through technology.
I teach in an at-risk school with a 25% Hispanic and 12% African American population in which the majority are elebile to receive free or reduced lunch.
Despite their situations, the students come to school ready to learn to explore new adventures. Although the students are eager to learn, many of them read below grade level, making it difficult for them to acquire new information independent of the classroom teacher.
My Project
In our class reading and writing are significant focus to develop independent readers and writers by the end of first grade.
So, the products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional opportunities to enhance their ability to reading and writing.
The large post-its in the cart will allow me to create anchor charts, writing stems, and parts of speech which will to displayed within the classroom as reference for scholars to use and develop their skills. By learning develop sentences with the many sentence building activities I have selected will help them become elaborate writers.
The writing paper is tailored for first graders and will allow students to to structure their writing making it easy to read. The literacy games such as the building sentence games, sight word manipulatives, activities, and games will allow scholars to become strong readers as well as writers. These will be extremely beneficial for some scholars that just need to increase their reading and the ability to write simple sentences. They can also be used as a supplement to small group instruction! The sentence strips and the dry erase markers will allow for alternative write practice. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
