Gear Up for First Grade!

My Students

Distance learning has been a far different experience than I had anticipated! Having had to leave my classroom teaching materials behind, I have been working with the bare minimum and would love to be able to provide learning experiences that are valuable and engaging. I worry that some of my students are falling behind by not keeping up with academics.

As many families are having a difficult time managing the work/home/schoolwork demands, my goal is to lessen the parents' load by providing the necessary lessons so my students will be successful upon entering first grade.

Having the appropriate materials at home will ensure that my students will receive quality instruction with engaging materials.

My Project

Having left my classroom without knowing to bring certain items with me has been frustrating. Teaching online without appropriate resources is a huge challenge! I have been muddling through with a few things I had at home. Providing appropriate modeling for my Kindergarten students is necessary in order for them to grasp essential concepts.

Therefore, having the whiteboard easel, sight word flashcards, sentence building kit, number line and ten frames will provide me with several of the tools necessary for demonstrating essential lessons online (and in the classroom in the fall)!

Having these items will boost student engagement as well as knowledge retention in the areas of reading and math!

No matter the location, whether it be home or school, my students will benefit from the use of these teaching and learning materials. Having my students prepared for first grade (and beyond) is my goal and desire.
