We need new soccer equipment, including but not limited to soccer balls, shin guards and a first aid kit, to better our soccer program and encourage a safer more responsible way of playing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students leading this project are energetic, passionate middle-schoolers who are excited about helping their school and community. Emily, Klaryssa, Joshua, Sergio and Kevin take initiative and are leaders in the classroom and within our sports program. Each one of these five students are unique in there own way, but when they come together as a team, they are incredibly powerful. As the captains of their teams, they take ownership and are very responsible on and off the field. Their positivity and strive are truly remarkable and inspirational.
While their school work and education comes first, soccer comes a very close second for these students. They are so talented and skilled in this sport and display a unique happiness whenever they are on the field. We have four soccer teams at our school and are constantly trying to find ways to share all our gear, but sometimes our efforts fall short. My students recognize a need for new gear that will improve our program and allow them to really compete within our network. This was their inspiration for creating this project.
My students are all hard-working and dedicated. They always try their best in the classroom and on the field. We have won several championships in our network, but don't always look the part because our gear is outdated. They knew there was a need for better soccer equipment and realized that there was not enough funding for it. So they took it upon themselves to create this project; further demonstrating their determination and innovation. Through this project they have learned to work together and celebrate each others' strengths and abilities. I have seen how they divided the work and kept each other accountable.
The equipment requested will improve the quality of safety and playing time. The students chose each item carefully and made sure it was something that we truly needed. We will be using this equipment each Fall and Spring during the soccer seasons. They are so excited to fund this project and bring the equipment to our school!
In Their Own Words
We got the idea to do this project because we realized that we needed new equipment for our soccer teams. We love playing soccer because it is competitive, fun and keeps us healthy. We hope to play this sport well beyond our middle school. With this project, we can also provide equipment for our teammates who cannot afford their own.
We are hoping to help our peers and the program with better and safer gear. We can be leaders with this project because we will be helping others. We had to work together and be creative. And we hope to inspire other students to also create projects to help their school and community.
This equipment will make us look united as a team. It will improve the way we train and learn to play the sport. We also want other students to see our soccer program is improving so they can be motivated to play the sport we love. We cannot wait to start our season with new gear!
