Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are a diverse mix of English Language Learners that are predominately Latino. They are eager to learn and motivated with hands on experiences. They are a compassionate community that enjoys collaborative learning. We are part of a urban public school with high needs and 95% free lunch. Many of the parents work 2-3 jobs. Our students are low performing but always want to try new things. They are a sweet group who really want to make a difference in their school community.
My Project
Students go through an abundant amount of materials. Having high quality materials ensures they last longer. Using laptops in an effective skill building practice. It is important to teach student show to care for these items. IN addition some students need a quiet environment. The noise canceling head phones create a quiet place tp focus on their independent work. Having a few of these in the classroom allows for students to have access to a tool should they want to use it. The wipes will be used to clean devices and maintain a hygienic atmosphere. Students use white board markers to display their learning. ensuring each child has their own set of the needed materials supports a sense of responsibility for their learning. Kids love school supplies and when it has a little name tag with their name on it there is a sense of ownership and responsibility that is a joy to see.
