This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) students would benefit from using these rubber coated foam balls during their physical ed classes. These balls are easier than typical playground balls to manipulate, and they do not hurt if a student was to be tagged with a foam ball.
My school is located in a urban, high poverty level area.
There are over 850 scholars that love to get their exercise in their PE classes. My school is comprised of a large population of ASD students, that get mainstreamed for all of their specials.
My Project
My ASD students are mainstreamed into regular education classes and do great! They love to join their peers during their specials, and PE is a great avenue to mix with the other classes. The foam balls are a great manipulative to utilize for both gross and fine motor skill activities.
By obtaining the rubber coated foam balls, this equipment will be put to immediate use for various class activities.
These light weight balls are great to use because they don't hurt when hit with; they are easy to catch and throw; and they take the stress out of participation.
