Gathering Spots for Little Learners

My students need a soft spot to gather for group math lessons, reading time and sharing time! They love to be together to share and discuss many topics.

My Students

My students are energetic and ready to learn to read. They have been receiving information about their year of Kindergarten that is ahead of them. We are working to insure that every Kindergarten student is reading on grade level when they end their school year in June. We will read together, with partners and independently throughout each day to help encourage great reading habits and vocabulary building. Their Math skills are developed through hands on activities that are fun and a part of their daily environment. Students play games using their skills daily.

Many of our students live in the city.

Their living conditions are often at the poverty level. We try to insure the students have two well balanced meals at school and work with the food bank to help supplement their food at home.

My Project

Much of our day involves movement about the stories we read. Soft rugs in our room will make it more comfortable to gather and learn together as a class and in small groups. We love to read with a partner, read by our self and be read to throughout the day. We have many favorite books!

During our Math times we are graphing, counting, and sorting.

Our little hands are manipulating 2-D and 3-D shapes. We are building and exploring the world around us. We love to play together and discover how other objects move. As we move we are singing about our country, letters, numbers, the weather and our calendar. We love to learn!
