Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our current rug has seen several generations of students come and go. It is worn, old and faded. It is also designed for teacher-led instruction with all the spots facing in one direction. In Pre-K, we prefer gathering AROUND so we can engage in more group learning experiences. This rug also serves as our Block Center where our students collaborate on building projects with different types of blocks tumbling down each day. And it is the rug where we engage in gross motor workouts together during rainy days when recess must be in the classroom.
Our rug is one of the most important pieces in our classroom because it brings us together as a community.
Our students are bright thinkers, with diverse ideas and we need a round rug so they can gather together, see, and learn from each other. It must also be sturdy enough to handle their building projects and their workouts. This is why we chose this particular rug and are grateful for your support.
