Gathering Data Through All of Your Senses: Work and Play!

Help me give my students mindful, engaging, hands-on activities to promote Community-Building conversations and social interactions amongst peers in the Advisory classroom setting of Middle Level Education, Grades 6-8.

My Project

Students in our Advisory classroom at Stevenson Middle School are high achieving, self-directed, mindful and curious. Students are brave and willing to try new sports, clubs, afterschool and in-school activities to promote healthy and mindful learning habits. They are learning how to navigate and balance the increasing academic rigor of their school schedules, along with the fun and social aspects of their young adolescent lives.

By providing our Advisory supplies for written thinking and reflection Inclusion Questions of the day, as well as, engaging and fun hands-on activities, we can elevate our students' voice and choice within the classroom setting.

Post-its and color print outs will make it easy for students to engage mindfully and reflect on the things that matter most to them. Puzzles, board games, and art supplies will allow them the opportunities to select activities to do independently or with small groups of peers. The purpose of this grant is to see our Advisory students thrive in ways that are well-balanced, meaningful, and fun, contributing to their overall Sense of Total Well-Being.
