My Students

Our students come from very diverse backgrounds. Blue collar, white collar... farmers and CEOs... our community hosts a wide range of experiences and incomes. Located in a township without a post office, our school struggles to make ends meet at times. We aren't Title I but could be. We have a very strong community presence in our school, which helps, but constant budget cuts mean less money.

Even with these obstacles, our community is eager to see our children achieve a higher level of academic success than previous generations.

In today's world, being literate in technology is an essential skill. We hope to prepare and enrich our students for such a tech-based world.

My Project

This beautiful rug will be used to make the school library media center a more inviting place where the students will want to come to find a good book and stay a while.

The rug will help provide a welcoming environment that will encourage reading and promote literacy for all students.

The students will be able to find a comfortable spot on the rug for independent reading. The rug will also be used for the students to gather around for a book to be read aloud during kindergarten story time or for collaboration in the upper grades.

So get ready to gather around the reading tree with a good book in the media center!
