Help me give my students a space to work, interact and create. My students need a table where a small group can work independently or with me as facilitator.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a school on the southwest side of Chicago. Our school has a large population of Latino students whose first language is Spanish. In the years I have worked as a teacher, the students I have had come in every day with a lot of energy, with many questions, and ready to learn.
Fourth grade is a very exciting year for students.
Throughout the fourth grade, students learn to become independent learners. Furthermore, throughout the fourth grade, students become exposed to many different text genres and develop many reading and writing skills.
One of the very exciting things about being in fourth grade is that students become independent readers. By the end of fourth grade, students leave having been exposed to many different genres of books. They also leave the fourth grade loving books and having learned new reading and writing strategies.
My Project
Many times we have other teachers who come to my classroom and offer extra support. I would like to have an additional table in my classroom where teachers can sit and work in small group with my students. Right now they use a very short and small round table that many times is not comfortable.
Furthermore, this table can also offer extra seating choices in our flexible seating classroom.
Students are allowed to sit on the large classroom carpet area, use many of our flexible seating choices, or simply remain at their desks when working together. Now they will have another choice of seating.
Without organizations like DonorsChoose my classroom would be a blank slate, thank you all so much in advance.
