My Students

My students enter my classroom and are genuinely eager to find out what they will be learning today. I strive to continually integrate new ideas and concepts into our classroom. The students thoroughly enjoy and look forward to the innovative, engaging, and differentiated instruction that I take pride in delivering on a daily basis.

The students attend a pre-K through 8 school located in a small, rural district of Vermont.

There are about 650 students enrolled, and many of the students who attend school here are children of former students, so they come from a very close-knit community. The students come from many different backgrounds and have a variety of needs.

The school is growing and changing from year to year and with that you have a more diverse population of student needs. The students at my school are so special because they embrace and accept change, they look forward to new, innovative ideas, and are truly grateful for everything the teachers do for them to help them succeed.

My Project

For almost 2 full school years classrooms have been stripped of all the comforts that make classrooms feel comfortable and warm. Throughout this pandemic, classroom teachers have had to become very creative in how they gather students together for lessons, class meetings, and read alouds. As we become more and more educated around what is going on around us, things are beginning to return to "normal" in the classroom.

I created a project for a large classroom carpet, where students will be able to gather together to learn and grow on a comfortable surface.

This will be the primary meeting and gathering spot for read alouds, lessons, and class meetings. This rug will be the main focal point of our classroom where a lot of learning will happen on a daily basis.
