My Project

This project is being lead by my 150 6th grade studnets. We are looking to creeate a comminuty garden to support local food needs and to have a space where we can come together. These resources will help the comunity garden get up and running.

Creating a community garden can address several important issues, such as food insecurity, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

By growing fresh produce locally, community gardens can help provide nutritious food to those in need, improving food access and health outcomes. Additionally, these gardens can serve as educational spaces, teaching students about gardening, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Students can play a crucial role in addressing hunger by volunteering at community gardens, organizing food drives, and advocating for policies that support food security. Through these efforts, students can make a meaningful impact in their communities and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable food system.

Students are working with local construction companies and nurserys to acquire garden beds, seeds, soil and tools in order to create a community garden where everyone is welcome. . These items will be utilized to make planter beds, fill them with soil and start seedlings in the spring.
