My Project
This project is going to be done by my 4th/5th graders. My third graders last year visited a local community garden where they grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. These are given out to people in the community every weekend. The students were so inspired by this, that they wanted to create a community garden of our own where we can support local food needs. The items requested will allow us to get this project started!
This project will allow us to create a space where the community can come together, united by the shared purpose of giving back and growing something meaningful!
By creating a community garden, students learn about service, food insecurity, and sustainability. The produce that grows in our garden will be given to members of our community.
Last year, we started to create our own outdoor garden with mostly flowers and plants, but receiving the requested materials will allow us to expand the garden to contain fruits and vegetables that will help us combat food insecurity in our community!
