This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach preschool students between the ages of four and five years old. The students in my classroom are all bilingual. My preschool students have different needs and abilities. Some of the classroom students can write their names, identify some letters, and count past ten.

As preschool students, their inquisitive and mystified minds and actions are part of their development.

Working with preschool students is a fulfilling and inspiring experience. Every day is different in our preschool classroom. Students enjoy the outdoor walks and playtime. They are very observant and always question the changes they notice outside, such as weather, plants, and animals. Through small group work, independent work, and play, students learn, develop, and strengthen various skills.

My Project

Students will learn how plants grow and what they need to grow through the gardening/spring unit. Students have begun noticing the change in weather, leaves growing on trees, and some flowers blooming.

If approved, the materials provided will give the students a firsthand experience of the process.

Students will get to plant their own seeds on a pot and track their plant's growth. As preschool students, imaginative play and role-playing is an essential component to learning and development. Therefore, having a gardening set to place in the dramatic play would reinforce learning while they play. Thank you!
