Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

The amazing students submitting this project are Rafael, Lalo, Yulian, and Lexi. These soon to be high schoolers are smart, funny, hard-working, and, in their own words, caring. They value the environment, and they want to put their values to good use! They are thoughtful and caring individuals who want to make a difference in our classroom, our school, and our planet.

This group has a lot of girl and boy power, and in this project, they really show how much they care about making the world better. As part of their Language Arts class, they decided to write a grant for tools, plants, and a camera for the Science class and gardening group. They want to make our school more sustainable, and they would appreciate your help.

My students are studying how art reflects values. They are using their Language Arts skills to write grants that reflect their own personal values. These students value nature, and they hope to use their persuasive writing to convince you to support their grant that provides tools, plants, and a camera to our gardening efforts. In preparing this project, students are using 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. It always amazes me to see the ideas they want to bring to life. Thank you for taking the time to read their grant. If you value gardening and the environment, this is the project for you!

In Their Own Words

We are trying to get supplies to help make our school water wise and beautiful. We all love Science, and we want to get materials for our great Science teacher. We also have a gardening program at our school, and lots of students are learning how to garden. We are working to make our school grounds friendly for butterflies, the ocean, and the planet. We want to get wheelbarrows, plants, hoes, and a camera so they we can transform our school and document the process.

We will make sure that the resources get to Mrs. Taylor, and we will help with the gardening to make our school is greener. Sometimes the gardening happens at lunch, after school, or on weekends, and we will try to come and help during those extra times. We will also use the camera to help Mrs. Taylor document the transformation of our school.

This project is important because this will make our school look greener and neater. This will also show that we actually care about our school. I think this a great idea because this will make our school look more professional in many ways. This project will make everyone of us feel better about our school, and we think that we may become the best school in our district!
