At our school, we believe in the power of hands-on, project-based, and experiential learning. Students at our school are at an extremely formative age where experience is everything!
This project will increase social-emotional learning, collaboration, and practical and academic knowledge.
We are continuing to build and create our Pollinator Garden. Students will be able to practice both their fine motor and gross motor skills in digging, planting, raking, and watering under the supervision of an adult. They will learn about the basics of caring for plants and the environment at large. We will be planting native plants and those suitable for our particular climate. Outdoor activities will be supplemented with a curriculum on plants, gardening, and sustainability. Completing this gardening project will not only aid in helping the students learn more about various tools and how they make life easier, but will also provide them with real-life skills they can use in their adult lives with planting and harvesting their own food, the life cycles of different plants, and how to collaborate with others to get the best results. These garden tools will be used this year and for years to come while we plant, grow, and maintain our school Pollinator Garden.
