Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a 2nd grade teacher, I’ve seen how big feelings can sometimes get in the way of learning. I’m working to create a peace caddy for our classroom. This would be a caddy that has materials in it for students to access when needed. To make it even more meaningful, I’d love to include simple gardening materials like small pots, soil, seeds, and water spritzers.

Caring for a plant gives students something peaceful and purposeful to focus on.

It helps them slow down, breathe, and reset- all of which are important skills for emotional regulation. My hope is that this caddy becomes a comforting tool for students feel empowered to manage their emotions and return to learning with a clear mind.
