My Project

We are a 3K class, and our current unit of study is "Gardening". Gardening offers a variety of hands-on opportunities for students to learn about climate and the environment. Students will learn about basic botany by exploring parts of a plant, the life cycle of a plant, flowers, trees, photosynthesis, pollination, learn about how plants make their own food, and also foods that we eat that come from plants.

We will learn about how climate change and weather affect plants.

Teach students about composting organic waste to create nutrient-rich soil, and we will plant flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to our garden. Gardening helps to enrich the lives of people and wildlife by providing food, fresh air, and beautifying our space. It is also good for our health in reducing carbon gas and providing oxygen.

Items we need are a large repotting mat, and plant labels. Grass doll growing kits and a flower garden building toy for a fun indoor activity. Life cycle learning and educational toys of a frog, butterfly, ladybug, plants, and bees. Reuseable clear nursery pots so students can have a clear view of what takes place underground with the root system and Grow A Maze Kit with plants so students can see how the stem of a plant bends and grows to find light.

Gardening for many is known as a hobby but it provides a sense of peace and tranquility in the activity itself. It is known to help protect our environment, our health, and provide knowledge that can be comprehended by all age levels that is developmentally appropriate for even the youngest learners.
