This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Camden, NJ has been ranked as one of America's most dangerous cities. The majority of the students in my class receive free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the challenges my pre-school inclusion students face living in this environment, they come to school eager to learn and grow. For many students, school is their safe place, and I want to create the best environment possible for them to feel safe, secure, and cared for. They are the future of this city and have the potential to improve their community.

My Project

My students are starting a study on gardens. These materials will support this garden study and many of our other study topics.

The story telling kits will allow the students to retell their favorite books while engaging in dramatic play.

Some of these books will replace some of our worn out favorites and others will be introduced for the first time while we learn about gardening. The vegetable cut-ups will allow the children to engage in dramatic play while enhancing fine motor skills. The flower counting box will encourage students to identify numerals, connect quantity to numerals, and practice counting while mastering fine motor skills. These materials will help support our students while we learn about gardening and create our own edible garden.
