This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My F.F.A. students are in the heart of agriculture in the San Joaquin Valley. Many of their parents are field workers in the surrounding southern Bakersfield area. My students are excited to be at school working with their hands in my Agriculture Science classes. They are very eager to get to work in the school garden as soon as it is finished.
My Project
As an Agriculture teacher, I am always looking for ways to introduce production agriculture to my students. My school is currently building a school farm with over 40 garden boxes. The goal is to have students producing vegetables, fruits, or flowers. They need to how much water each plant needs based on the type of soil in each planter. The pergola will be our outside classroom. All students need hands-on learning and vitamin D. My passion is Agriculture and I want it to be my student's passion as well. We all need to eat!
