Gaming as a Team!

My students need more board games to continue their activities in their Board Games Colloquium. Students need more games that allow them to play as teams and learn skills related to working together, compromise, and problem-solving.

My Students

I teach at a Title I high school on the south side of Chicago. Students attend a high performing high school with a diverse population of students that come from all over Chicago for a superb educational experience. Students have access to a variety of academic and athletic enrichment activities.

Students served are from seventh to twelfth grade.

My classroom is a resource room, mostly used by diverse learners and students with academic accommodations. Students who attend my school are some of the brightest students in Chicago.

My Project

Students will use these resources during their Wednesday colloquium class. Students at our school are in Honors and AP courses and bombarded with the academic rigor that comes with attending a selective enrollment school. Very rarely do kids have the opportunity to engage with each other in non-academic ways in the classroom. Not all students are sports enthusiasts and that is where our colloquium comes in.

Students get to play non-competitive games with each other in structured environments and spend time with kids they wouldn't normally hang out with.

They play board games and get an opportunity spend time developing their social and problem-solving skills.
