This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My high school-aged students attend one of the oldest high schools in the country. We are the melting pot of students from different parts of Central & South America. A few are from other parts of the world. They are all fascinated by the American culture and want to learn the international language, English.

This year many students continue to experienced the trials and tribulations of this over extended pandemic.

They also face major home challenges :single-parent home, parental addiction and/or incarceration, homelessness, etc. All of our inner-city students participate in the free breakfast and lunch federal program. It is a relief for many that they are assured these meals daily. I want to add sunshine to their learning by "gamifying" their way to learning the language and content areas.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my student's learning: language, math, science, etc. They will want to learn because they will be having fun. This is an excellent way to have students challenge themselves and one another. This form of competitiveness forms positive sills and dealing with emotions also. Students will learn content areas, how to develop their critical thinking skills and SEL. Offering this gaming method of learning will allow students to make responsible choices. These games will be readily available to all freshman students. It's a win win!!!
