This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are real troopers! We are back this school year with more eagerness and excitement to learn and explore. On our third week, students have planned, designed and conducted their experiments already. I love that they are curious and ready to learn. I would like to fuel this positive classroom energy more by gamifying and intensifying our learning experiences.

We are going to use the portable air hockey table to gamify our learning about forces between objects and collisions!

These concepts are in our 8th grade New Generation Science Standards. The air hockey table will help my students visualize the interactions between matter and what happens when collisions happen. It will be very exciting to solve the forces, impulse and momentum!

Most importantly, this will make our classroom learning more relevant and accessible in daily activities of my students. It is my hope that students see science around them even after they leave my classroom and make those connections to keep them curious to stay on track to become our future scientists and engineers.
