This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Keeping 7th grade students engaged with Nearpod has been a game changer this semester! Nearpod is an interactive customizable slideshow that allows students to collaborate, and share their ideas without having to speak in front of the class. Students have control over their own self-directed learning as they work at their own pace through engaging lessons that have been tailor made for them by me, their teacher.

Nearpod and Legends of Learning are 2 prized resources my students love!

Nearpod provides students with a variety of interactive activities to learn from including PhET simulations, videos with embedded questions, drag and drop elements, and links to websites. Drawing tools allow students to digitally draw on diagrams and pictures to demonstrate understanding of visual concepts. The "Time to Climb" game allows students to compete in a fun way. Students even completed a Nearpod lesson on the respiratory system while simultaneously awaiting their turn to go up and pump up real swine lungs to get hands on experiencing feeling these amazing organs inflate and deflate, it was a gas!

As the teacher, I can tell, in real-time, when the students complete each Nearpod activity, pace lessons and track student progress. Immersive reader translates to many languages and reads text aloud to the students that need these accommodations. Nearpod has become my go-to platform for ensuring student success this school year.
