This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing. Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.
As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish.
There are numerous benefits to being bilingual, and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that one hundred percent of our students are second language learners.
My Project
Inspired by one of my colleagues and also considering the impact of remote learning and the pandemic on my students, I want my students to enjoy learning and have opportunities for productive learning breaks. By providing these games and a closet for storage, students will have a place to go when they need a brain break and/or finish their work. These games will encourage students to use critical thinking and develop strategies. The paint by sticker is a fun way to continue to integrate art with shapes that we have studied in our geometry unit.
