My Students
My students are a great group of kids. They are ninth graders and many have autism and other developmental disabilities or special learning needs. They need more than a teacher who tells them what to do; they need an adult who will listen to them and work with them on their individual needs.
In the words of Temple Grandin, "Kids have to be exposed to different things to develop.
A child’s not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it."
My classroom assistant and I create a positive and interactive learning environment where our kids know that they are welcome, loved, appreciated, are safe, and can succeed.
My Project
Games, games, games! Games are more than just pieces and laughs. Games build community. Games help give children a safe space to learn and grow. With the opportunity to bring these games into my classroom (and some when we go outside), I know that it will create an amazing learning environment for our students.
Each game will allow my students to learn and grow with one another.
These games will help create a classroom environment that goes beyond just our educational needs but our social-emotional needs too. Help give my students the opportunity to learn but also play with one another.
