My students need life skills and social skills games as they mature in their middle school educational goals. Games such as Consequences or Survival Signs Bingo provide opportunities to practice relevant social skills!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special needs kids who are fascinated by the world around them! They learn best when materials are easy to read, colorful, and interactive. These students live in the rural community of Oakley near the Sacramento River Delta in CA and they are less than an hour from the thriving city of San Francisco.
In the classroom, every student has their own interest and individual needs, yet they work together tirelessly.
Together they have cooked meals, planted a garden, and created a time capsule to open in June 2018. The students often make suggestions and requests for activities and projects that they are excited about. It's my hope to offer materials and supplies to make those dreams a reality!
My Project
During our educational activities, we often implement relevant role-playing, discussions, and projects that give special needs students exposure to everyday life. Using the games that are specially designed to meet those everyday needs would improve and promote positive social interactions. One classroom challenge is providing instruction that directly meets the students interest. The games I have requested will promote learning independent skills such as manage grocery shopping, safety, and peer socialization. Growing up is a challenge for students who need many opportunities to practice social skills--so providing fun and colorful games meets that need. Games for growing up can be used with a variety of ages during the school year or summer school to make learning fun!
