I have been hosting an after school club on Thursdays for two years now. This is one of the only after school club offerings available at my school right now. This is a great opportunity for students to build community and socialize after being relatively isolated for the past couple of years. It is great to see students connect and meet new people while doing something they already love to do: play video games. This provides a very supportive and accessible way for students to socialize and build friendships. It also gives students a warm, inviting space to visit before they head home.
Students are hungry by the end of the day, so supporting them with snacks will improve our community greatly!
Students were so excited to get back to Games Club and I am so proud to see so many students come back this year. We unfortunately lost our main after school programming this year, so this is one of two options for students to engage with one another after school. Besides this club, there are only sports. This just provides another place for students to come together and be kids!
