This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In many of the gifted education classrooms I have observed, they have a center dedicated to board games. These games aren't like the standard ones like Monopoly or Taboo, they are games that encourage logic. Games like Q-Bitz, Asmundi, and Proof are learning games. I tried to make sure the games I chose were Mensa award winners, logical games, or games that offered real concrete skills like adding or subtracting.

We work hard in my class, often covering skills that are beyond grade level for my students.

Having a center dedicated to games not only offers a reward for my students' hard work, but research supports the beneficial link between fun in the classroom and the development of authentic learning and long-term memory.
