This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Low-income. Homeless. High poverty. These are words that people often use to describe our scholars. However, the words people should concentrate on are high achievers, determined learners, and creative thinkers.

We are scholars who have a hunger to learn, a passion for knowledge, and a need to succeed.

We are looking to expand our critical-thinking skills, explore our creativity, and develop our talents for twenty-first-century learning. We are looking to develop our gifts and talents and need your help to do so.

My Project

Inside the classroom we work hard; outside we play hard. I believe children need time to play in order to focus their minds on work. When children are cooped up inside, without feeling sunshine on their skin, and without exercise to kick-start their metabolisms, they struggle to activate their minds and engage in learning. Yet every year, we seem to struggle to keep enough basic equipment. Expect this equipment to be used daily, to be hit, thrown, and kicked until they bursts at the seams.

For many of my students, athletics and fitness are what motivate them.

For those students, this equipment is essential. We love playing soccer, football, and basketball but we do not have the equipment to play. We need balls, nets, and pinnies to help us get our bodies moving so we can activate our minds in the classroom.
