My Project
I am a Speech Language Pathologist in a low-income, inner-city school district. I work in a middle school where I see students in small group settings. Their diagnoses range from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual disabilities, Neurological disabilities, ADHD, Executive Functioning, Language deficits, and articulation errors.
Many of my students are working on social language skills.
These skills require one to take others perspective, be an encouraging peer, turn taking, following rules (written and unwritten rules), teamwork and problem solving. These skills are essential for social language growth. On top of social language skills, it also helps build our vocabulary skills.
My students are often excited to come to speech and language group when they see we can incorporate a game with our goals of social language, semantics, inferencing, prediction, problem solving and grammar. They would be very excited to add new games to our small collection!
