My Students
As the premier alternative school in the district, our school exists to serve the unique academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of students who are in a critical period of their lives as they move from adolescence to adulthood. All aspects of the school help prepare our students for success in college and encourage them to become thoughtful and contributing members of society.
Athletics teach students essential skills that they will use throughout their lives.
Because our school serves students who are high-risk, athletics and the value found in playing teams sports is even more critical to our student's success.
My Project
Athletics teaches students essential skills that they will use throughout their lives. Because our school serves students who are at high-risk, athletics and the lessons learned in playing teams sports is even more critical to our student's success after high school.
Unfortunately, many of our students opt not to participate in sports because they do not have the money for athletic equipment, such as shoes, to play on the court.
Also, our teams are often underfunded which makes having the needed supplies to practice a barrier. If students can not practice and/ or play because of a lack of supplies, they invariably miss out on the lessons that can be gained through team sports. This project will support our Girls and Boys Basketball teams and Soccer team.
The donation of these items will help to break down these barriers and give our students the opportunity to grow and develop lifelong lessons by participating in organized athletics.
