Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love how my students support each other! Even on tough days, they never fail to make me smile with their enthusiasm and willingness to help classmates who are struggling. What really gets me excited is seeing those "lightbulb moments" when something finally clicks - especially for kids who don't always connect with traditional learning.
These E-Sports games and controllers will be game-changers for our classroom.
Many of my students are already passionate about gaming, and this equipment will channel that energy into developing real-world skills. The controllers will help build coordination and quick thinking, while the competitive games naturally teach teamwork, communication, and resilience.
I've noticed that some of my quietest students completely transform when they're in gaming environments - suddenly they're leading strategy discussions and coaching peers! For others who struggle with traditional academics, these games provide an alternative path to success and recognition among their classmates.
With this equipment, we'll be able to participate in competitions against other NYC schools, giving my students something meaningful to work toward and a sense of pride in representing our school. They're so excited about the forming our first-ever E-Sports team, and I can't wait to see how it builds their confidence both in and out of the classroom.
