As an AIS teacher, it is my job to support students in creating a strong foundation of math so that they can be successful in the classroom and their everyday lives.
Students gain more and are more successful in their learning when they are highly motivated and engaged.
Students need foundational skills, but traditional ways in which they are practiced are not always the most engaging. Math games that build on the skills and concepts students need enable them to master the skills needed to be successful all while keeping them fully engaged in the learning. The games will help them to better build their relationships in math and allow them sense-making opportunities. The games will build understanding and connections while allowing the students to experience the math concepts.
With all of these skills comes the building of confidence in math so that our students feel they can achieve and be successful. Not only do the students build upon their math skills, but the games also allow them to build on their social skills as well.
