When students play board games with each other, SO MANY positive skills are developed! When you add mathematics into the mix, the possibilities are endless! Playing mathematics board games engages and motivates students to focus on math concepts and skills. Board games provide context for practicing and reinforcing math concepts meaningfully. Students are using critical thinking skills to strategize and make decisions. Their math fluency is developed through constant exposure to math facts, operations, and concepts. This repeated practice helps students be more proficient in mental math, calculation, and mathematical reasoning. Students interact with each other, communicating their ideas clearly and engaging in friendly competition with peers, all while practicing social skills and sportsmanship.
This project aims to enhance math concepts, facts, number sense, and reasoning skills through a fun, engaging, and differentiated approach.
My students have great potential for significant progress and growth. Using targeted support, they can make meaningful strides in their mathematical abilities. They have a collaborative spirit, always wanting to share ideas and learn from one another. My students love to celebrate the success and progress in their mathematical skills. These moments serve as powerful motivators and reminders of their capabilities.
