Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is in the early stages of developing an eSports team, and the students are excited! Various students, including those who don't participate in traditional sports, are stepping up to compete, collaborate, and connect with others who share their interest in gaming. This team is already building confidence and bringing together a beautifully diverse group of students who are finally finding their place. They competed this year and plan to continue improving and competing.
Currently, our players are practicing and competing in stiff classroom chairs.
Help me provide them with the beginnings of an ideal setup for high-level play that will improve their confidence and enjoyment. We're asking for your support to bring in real gaming chairs that will give our team the comfort, back support, and the focus they need to succeed during competitions and practices.
These chairs will be used not only after school but also during the day. Our classroom is shared with students in grades TK-8, so they'll help support students who work in our tech spaces.
eSports is more than gaming; it's a gateway for students to grow in teamwork, communication, and leadership. It is imperative that students see their school embrace their interests and passions, and that we help them develop in all areas. Esports is also a career, and we must help our students be as well-rounded as possible. With your help, we can make our team feel seen, valued, and supported… literally!
