There is "No Such Thing as Normal" is the name of a musical that my fourth graders performed recently. The message is one that we all benefited from learning; we are all different, yet all the same. Meeting the needs of individual learners is essential for the success of every one of my students.
Our school is a Title 1 school that has a large population of low income students.
These students come from many different backgrounds. We have students who have always lived in our school area and we have students who are new to our country. We have a large ELL population in our school and have students who speak more than 20 different languages. Our school has Universal Breakfast so that each child starts the day with a free breakfast. Our school works to teach all of the children by doing what it takes to meet the needs of each student. Giving students choices in seating as well as providing learning activities through games are just a couple of the ways that I meet the needs of students in my classroom.
My Project
When walking into our classroom you will see students seated around the room working hard and feeling successful. The differentiated seating for our class is a key component in student success. When combining differentiated seating with math games that support standards in a fun and engaging way, student success is increased. My students need a balance ball, Hokki Stool and math games to help them succeed.
Choices in the classroom can be a game changer.
Providing students with choices in how they practice the skills they need and where they sit can both motivate students and guide them towards success. By supporting this project, you are providing students with games based on the skills that they need to know as well as choices in where they sit. Please help my students win in the game of life by contributing to this project.
