This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember how PE was always the best class out of the day. We played the funnest games while also learning about staying healthy and fit. My students unfortunately do not feel the same as I due to the lack of resources for the Physical Education program.

My students are considered "at- risk" behaviorally and academically.

They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. They attend our school for the low teacher to student ratio. We are able to provide them with more individualized attention based on their needs. My students are great kids, they just need a little support and encouragement, along with someone to push them to achieve their goals.

My Project

We are a small charter school with about 70 students total. Unfortunately, my PE program has no resources or equipment to properly teach a physical education class and allow my students to learn to their fullest potential. I have requested a 40 inch cage ball, marking paint, volleyball net, bean bags,and a tug o war rope. These resources would not only benefit them for our Field Day, but be used the next school year for regular daily activities. With just these few resources I can work on team building and cooperative activities to make Physical Education more exciting along with teaching them to work together as a group to achieve health/physical education goals.

We have NO sporting programs available to our students so my PE classes are where the students will get the most physical activity throughout the year.

Everyday I listen to my students complain about not having a gym/equipment to do all the different sports and activities that other schools are able to do. I feel that by receiving this donation it will give them a better outlook on PE and prove to them that others do care about the health and wellness of the youth today.
