Gaining Independence With Seating Choices

My students need two Calico Designs Kids' Desk and Bench Sets, stability cushions for floor work, and kick bands for desk chairs.

My Students

First grade students are bundles of energy and are excited about learning. My students come to school each day ready to try their best and learn as much as possible. During the past school year, I taught 22 students; our grade level had five classes. First Grade is an amazing year of growth; it is amazing to witness and be a part of every day!

First graders are eager to gain independence in the classroom!

Over the course of the ten month school year, my students grow and mature so much. They start to become independent in realizing the working environment that will best help them learn.

My Project

Over my years of teaching, one of the most amazing things to witness is a student realizing what will help him or her to be most successful. I love helping students realize that choosing a certain work spot can help them be more productive and focused, then watching them begin to make the choice to move seats as needed.

These seating options will help my students gain independence in the classroom, as they will allow me to offer varied options for daily seating.

The desk and bench sets will be used every day as standing desks or with the bench. The desk is sized perfectly for two students, which lends itself to small group work! The cushions and kick bands will allow students who choose to sit on the floor or in a chair a chance to move a bit while working.

I can't wait to see my students use these seating options to learn how they can work best in the classroom and become independent in selecting what works best for them!
