Gaining Essential Math Knowledge and Closing Gaps with ALEKS

My Project

Mathematics is a difficult and often scary subject for many students, and a significant number of them face difficulties with certain concepts. This often requires extra assistance to bridge the knowledge gap. ALEKS accurately measures each student's math foundation through a placement test and creates a personalized learning module to review and refresh any lost knowledge.

This personalized approach considers each student's unique knowledge state, including the math topics they are familiar with, those they are unfamiliar with, and those they are ready to learn.

The ALEKS placement test plays a crucial role in determining the individual knowledge state of each student. With this program in place, students can receive valuable extra support to help them succeed in my class and improve their overall understanding of mathematics.

Using this program, I can effectively support my students and help them be successful in mathematics, all while boosting their confidence in themselves at the same time!

My middle school students would strongly benefit from this extra resource, as there's not enough time to teach multiple grade-level topics within one grade-level year. Several of my students are multiple grade levels behind, causing a depletion of their math confidence and perseverance when they struggle with topic after topic. With being a small, Title 1 school, the budget just simply won't stretch far enough to give my students this precious and essential resource.

The personalized learning for each student gained from this program would fill in the gaps in both their knowledge of math topics and their confidence in math! This will also help to provide a stronger foundation on which to build higher mathematical concepts as they move into high school and beyond.
