I envision these materials will enrich the classroom and students will reach a higher level of thought and problem-solving skills. This library will consist of LEGO Gadget materials to spark higher-level thinking and interest.
The purpose of this grant is to reach high-level learners in achieving hands-on, STEM-based, cognitive activities.
These board games will help us accomplish this goal.
Studies have found that many graduates lack skills in resolving conflicts and social skills in teamwork. The gifted population, with their perfectionistic tendencies, has a difficult time embracing challenges and failure. They tend to only want to engage in activities that promise success. Also, their social-emotional skills and affect skills are lacking. These activities help teach students social skills needed for their future. These activities will be an answer to these areas of concern.
The objective of this grant is to address the social-emotional area of gifted learning, enhance strategies in teamwork, and develop social skills. As students embrace challenges, they increase their cognition, such as processing information, perception, memory, problem-solving, and decision-making. Their brain ability will increase as they utilize both cerebral hemispheres, increasing processing speed and strategic thinking.
