This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Always start with a capital letter! Don't forget your finger space! Always remember to end with a period! Remember hearing your teacher tell you these three basic rules when you first started writing? These are the rules that my little ones will first start with when they enter Kindergarten.
Our Kindergarteners consist of children who come from low-income families and attend a Title I school.
More than 90% of our Kindergarten population is made up of second language learners. Many will be entering Kindergarten speaking very little English. One of our classes will be made up of Transitional Kindergarteners. These little ones are students who will need two years of Kindergarten so that they can be given more time for their cognitive skills to mature. For many of our students, Kindergarten will be their first school experience. They are ambitious, curious, and eager little sponges; ready to absorb every fact and experience that we will give them.
My Project
I am asking on behalf of my entire grade-level for writing journals. These writing journals will be used by our students throughout the year so that they may learn and master their writing skills. Our Language Arts Program consist of a more challenging and heavy writing component. From the first day of school students will begin learning the writing process. These journals will allow for our students to keep a daily record of their ideas, illustrations, and stories. They will be able to refer back and see how they have improved and what they need to practice more.
In the past our school had the funds to provide writing journals for our students.
However as our budgets continue to be slashed every year we now are reaching out to our community and the generosity of people who want to help our future leaders. We want to give them the best opportunities possible. These writing journals will help them to become creative, imaginative, and expressive. They will be able to see how much they learned and how they have become amazing writers. R.L. Stine..Watch Out!
