Our program had stopped a few years back and students were not reading for fun on a regular basis. Our tests scores had shown a decrease in English Language Arts last year, so I knew that getting students motivated to read was going to be a process. Our first month of reading record percentages was tough to see. Most classes had less than 20% of their students reading everyday. \r\n\r\nOur students needed some motivation and incentives, but I wanted to reward them with items that would also play a role in their learning to enjoy reading again, and in their improvement of their fluency skills. The items such as bookmarks, book lights, and reading trackers were such a delight to see them in use. Our percentage has begun to improve and students are beginning to enjoy reading again. I am looking forward to testing season and am confident that we will start to see an improvement in our English Language Arts! This book was absolutely precious and made our newcomers feel valued, heard, and understood. \r\n\r\nWe have had students from all parts of Central and South America, Ukraine, Russia, Philippines, and Thailand; to name a few.
