My Project

In Ms. Franklin's social studies classroom, we don't just learn about history -- we live it! And we make it!

I teach 165+ amazing 6th through 8th grade students in the South side of Chicago, Illinois, who are facing a multitude of barriers to success, not the least of which is funding for very basic classroom supplies.

I'm requesting materials that will transform these plain cinderblock walls into OUR space, allowing students to engage with primary sources, debate current events, empathize with historical figures who have long passed, and connect their unique identities to the history, geography, and civics lessons that we explore together -- without having to worry about access to basic supplies.

Your support will help us get:

- Healthy snacks to ensure bellies are full and brains are nourished

- Pencils and markers to replenish the supply for fresh art projects and journal writing next school year

- Supplies for mini anchor charts to support student learning of topics like credible sourcing, writing basics, and more!

- Magic Erasers and classroom job bulletin board supplies to encourage student development of individual and group responsibility

- And more!
