"There is a single light of science, and to brighten it anywhere is to brighten it everywhere." - Isaac Asimov. This is such a great quote, I don't only relate it to science. I feel that all children have that light inside of them and to brighten it within them anywhere will brighten within everywhere.
My 2nd and 3rd graders are risk takers.
They persevere. They are part of a community that cares about what they are doing and who they are. My students love to learn and want to learn. They love science and the way things work. I have students who range widely with reading and these books would help with that gap that some students have.
My Project
My students would be using these science books to work together. They will use them with partners, they will use them in jigsaws, and they will use them to research topics. With a range of readers, I have chosen books at different levels (both higher and lower). This will help those who are low readers gain the confidence to participate with the other students.
This donation will help the students gain confidence in their work habits, it will help the lower readers participate in research/reading activities because the books are in a wide range of levels.
This donation will help the students' skills of working together and as a team. All of these things will help the students be well rounded now and in the future.
